Child Safety Standards
BuD has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sexualised content involving minors, and any attempt to contact or exploit a minor. These are our published standards against CSAE.
1. Adults only
- BuD is for people aged 18 and over. You must confirm you are 18 or older to create an account, and our server rejects any sign-up below 18.
- We may close any account we reasonably believe belongs to someone under 18.
2. How the product limits risk
- No chat and no direct messages. People cannot send each other private messages or media through BuD.
- No photos until a mutual wink. Photos and videos are hidden from everyone except a person you have both winked at, and only during the one-hour match window.
- No exact location sharing. Other users see the venue, not where you are.
- Check-ins, winks, matches and stories are cleared when the night ends.
3. Reporting and blocking
- Anyone can block or report any profile in the app in two taps (the flag button on a profile).
- You can also report a concern by email to hello@getbud.org.
- Reports about minors, grooming or sexual content involving minors are treated as the highest priority.
4. What we do when we find or receive a report of CSAE
- We review the report promptly, and remove the content and the account involved.
- We keep the information needed for the authorities and report suspected CSAE, including CSAM, to the competent authorities and reporting bodies, for example the police, the German hotline internet-beschwerdestelle.de, and the NCMEC CyberTipline where applicable.
- We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
5. Compliance
We comply with applicable child safety laws and regulations, including the reporting duties that apply to us. We review these standards regularly and update them when our product or the law changes.
